The national men’s handball league returns today after a two-week break, while the women league kicks off tomorrow with matches in the East sub league.
The men’s league title hopefuls APR face a tough test against Nyamasheke-based Kibogora Polytechnic that have proved to be a serious challenger in their debut season. Kibogora currently sit in third place, level with APR on 12 points, but the later have two games in hand.
League leaders Police handball will travel to Rubavu where they will face sixth College Inyeramigigo seeking to maintain three points gap on top whereas bottom side Rambura host fifth-placed UR College of Education.
Meanwhile, the women national handball league, which has been split into four regional sub leagues namely; Eastern, Northern, Southern and Central gets under way tomorrow with three matches in the East sub league while others will play next week.
Matches in all the sub leagues will be played in a round robin format; first and second leg with the two top teams qualifying for the quarter-finals at the national level.
