RE: "Genocide: A denier's mockery can't suffocate testimonies” (The New Times, April 16).
Most (Genocide) deniers do not in fact believe that the testimonies of survivors and other witnesses of the full horrors visited on the victims are concocted.
They only feign to doubt the testimonies of cruelty meted out to the victims by the génocidaires, because to admit them and then attempt to rationalize these horrors would show them out as being equally callous themselves, which undoubtedly they are but which they always take care to cover up as best as they can in revisionism, trivialization or the inversion of the roles of the victims and the génocidaires.
In reading or hearing what such people say – often very dispassionately – one wishes they can look into the kind of mind of such a serial murderer; their complete lack of empathy for fellow human beings, whose extreme suffering from fellow human beings they can contemplate with total detachment.
