SC Kiyovu 1-0 Espoir FC AS Muhanga 4-1 Amagaju

National Football League struggling side AS Muhanga registered their maiden victory of the season after seeing off Amagaju FC 4-1 at Muhanga Regional Stadium on Tuesday.

Veteran striker Bokota Lamaba and defender Bonaventure ‘Gangi’ Hategekimana are on a mission to save AS Muhanga from being relegated and part of their task was well executed on Tuesday as they shocked Amagaju FC to send a message to their next opponents.

Ibrahim Ndikumasabo scored the opening goal in the 16th minute before Major Kalisa doubled the lead ten minutes later- with all benefiting from Ange Mutsinzi’s set pieces.

Two minutes to half time, Amagaju FC were reduced to ten men after their goalkeeper Protegene Rukundo fouled Bokota outside the goal area. Hategekimana could not convert the resulting free-kick.

Junior Nizigiyimana scored AS Muhanga’s third goal in the 45th minute to ensure a 3-0 win by half time while Hategikimana made it 4-0 in the 54th minute after powering a brilliant free kick past Amagaju FC goalie Ismael Mfashingabo.

The Nyamabage-based side snatched a consolation goal with nine minutes to the end of the game courtesy of substitute Innocent Ndizeye.

This was the first win of the season for AS Muhanga who sit bottom of the league standings with eight points in 17 matches after having conceded 32 goals. Amagaju FC sits in tenth slot with 19 points. At Mumena stadium, a lone Fitina Omborenga’s strike saw SC Kiyovu register a slim win over visitors Espoir to remain placed fifth with 29 points, 13 points adrift the Rusizi-based side who are placed 12th.
