Rwanda men beach volleyball team will be vying for a place at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in the third round of qualifiers slated for May 3-9 in Tunisia.
The provisional squad of five players will undergo intensive preparations at Lake Kivu for two weeks in a bid to make it to Brazil next year.
Speaking to Times Sport in an interview yesterday, Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) Secretary General, Christian Hatumimana said the players will head into residential camp on Wednesday.
"We will have enough preparations……the players are confident and in a good shape to put on a good fight to earn qualification.”
The men’s team comprise of Olivier Ntagengwa, Patrick Kavalo, Flavien Ndamukunda, Pierre Marshal Kwizera and Ouzziel Ndahimana.
Rwanda will be competing against twelve teams including big names like Angola, Kenya, Egypt, Tunisia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Burundi, Gambia, Morocco and Ivory Coast.
The winner will qualify for the Olympics in Brazil while the second and third runners up will join other teams from other continents for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships.
