RE: "To be shot you had to pay Rwf5,000, survivor Umuhoza testifies at UN” (The New Times, April 14).

Nothing could have been more depressing than reading the extremely sad and true story of a living legend—Frida Umuhoza.

It is extremely difficult to fathom how humans could have behaved in such a barbaric and inhuman manner towards fellow humans during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

We must salute and pay rich tributes to all those who went through such horror, and of course give them all the support and encouragement they need.

The New Times is doing a marvelous job by reporting such true and spine chilling stories.

By bringing these cases in public domain, it is an eye opener for the world that such atrocities did take place in our times.

It is for both organizations like the United Nations as well as individuals from all corners of the world to come together and fight the genocide ideology so as to ensure that such genocide never happens ever again.

The Government of Rwanda, through its embassies and High Commissions, is doing a marvelous job in spreading this message to one and all.
