Rwanda national cricket team starts its campaign to win the ICC Twenty20 Division Two tournament when they face Mozambique today at Binoni Willowmoore Park in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Head coach Davis Turinawe is confident his team will qualify for the ICC Twenty20 Division One, where they will play the likes of Nigeria, Uganda, Namibia, Kenya, Botswana, Tanzania and Ghana.
The team arrived in Johannesburg on Thursday. After today, Rwanda will face Sierra Leone on Sunday before winding up the round-robin campaign against Mozambique on Tuesday.
"The team has been well supported. The players have been given everything they need to perform well,” Turinawe said before the team’s departure.
Team captain, Eric Dusingizimana, said that they have prepared well both physically and mentally and believes they have a good chance to win the five-day tournament which ends on April 20.
The last time Rwanda took part in this tournament was in 2014 and the team had a dismal performance winning only one game against Gambia.
