Mukura Victory Sports have completed the signing of former Rayon Sports midfielder Jean-Marie Vianney Rukundo ahead of the start of the league second round this weekend.
The 24-year-old has signed a short-term contract that will see him play for the Huye-based side until the end of the season. He could make his debut against Police FC on Sunday at Kicukiro stadium.
"Mukura is performing well in the league and I believe I will get more time to play, which I missed while at Rayon Sports,” Rukundo told Saturday Sport.
The Rwandan midfielder, who started training with his new teammates on Thursday, noted that, "Every player’s objective is to have enough time to play, and I believe Mukura will give me that opportunity to compete on a level ground.”
Rukundo joined Rayon Sports last year on a two-year contract deal worth Rwf3 million but only started two games.
The midfielder started his career with Zebra FC in 2007 before joining APR FC where he had one of his best days. In 2013, he suffered an injury and was treated in Nairobi, Kenya. After recovering, he joined La Jeunesse FC and in the 2014/15 league season, he signed for Rayon Sports in the second half of the season.
He was among the five players released by former Rayon coach Ivan Minnaert, now at Kenyan side AFC Leopards. Mukura is third in the local league with 32 points, level with second-placed Rayon Sports.
