AS Kigali FC head coach Eric Nshimiyimana has urged his players to improve and return to the form that saw the club top the league table for most of the first round, when the second round starts on April 15.

AS Kigali will kick off their second round campaign away to Rwamagana City, which comes after three consecutive defeats against Mukura Victory Sports, Police and APR.

"We have to be aggressive in matches and start winning if we want to stay in title race; we have to win more games to build up our confidence. We don’t want to drop out in title race so early,” the former Amavubi skipper said on Friday.

The City of Kigali-sponsored side lost their last league match 3-1 against defending champions APR FC last week at Kigali Regional Stadium to drop to fifth place with 28 pints while the army side moved top of the table for the first time this season with 34 points from 15 matches.

Rayon Sports and Mukura Victory Sport have 32 points and are separated by goal difference in second and third positions respectively. Police are fourth, also with 28 points but have a superior goal difference.

"We need to be more focused, determined ahead of the second round and also believe that we have the ability not only to beat any team but also stay in contention of the title,” Nshimiyimana added.

The former APR midfielder noted that, "It is bad to lose three games in row moreover against our closest rivals.”

The league took a break due to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi Commemoration, and will resume on April 15.
