FIFA Rankings: Rwanda drops to 87th despite hammering Mauritius 5-0

Rwanda has dropped two places in the latest FIFA wankings despite hammering Mauritius 5-0 ten days ago in the 2017 AFCON qualifier played at Amahoro National Stadium. Coach Johnny McKinstry’s team were placed 85th last month but have now slipped to 87th globally and 21st in Africa.

Rwanda has dropped two places in the latest FIFA wankings despite hammering Mauritius 5-0 ten days ago in the 2017 AFCON qualifier played at Amahoro National Stadium.

Coach Johnny McKinstry’s team were placed 85th last month but have now slipped to 87th globally and 21st in Africa.

Rwanda’s other opponents in the AFCON Group H qualifiers: Ghana is up 34th, Mauritius is up 154th and Mozambique is down 101th

In the CECAFA countries, neighbors Uganda has fallen five places to 71st worldwide but remains the region’s best placed nation despite slumping 5 places this month. The Cranes lost away to Burkina Faso 1-0 in their AFCON qualifier, and then picked a point at home.

Kenya is down 12 places to 115th,Ethiopia down three places to 123rd while Burundi are the most improved team, going up seven places to 122nd and Tanzania is has fallen to 130th.

Cape Verde, who knocked Kenya out of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers have been dethroned as the best placed African nation, going down 16 places to 47th. Algeria moved top of the African table, rising four places up to 33rd globally.

In Africa, Egypt are the highest movers having ascended nine places to 44th to be ranked fifth in the continent while Ivory Coast, Ghana and Senegal are second, third and fourth in that order

Three straight wins in 2018 World Cup qualifiers helped Argentina return to the summit, five months after they were supplanted by Belgium, while Copa America champions Chile soared to an all-time high of third place.

Two-time defending European champions Spain drop three places to sixth, with world champions Germany, Brazil, Portugal and England also sliding down one spot.
