Eatingout: Great fast food and no need to hurry

Amy’s Fastfood is one of the trendy catering places in the city. Well prepared meals and friendly service make this small restaurant a delight. One wonders how the designers managed to make such a little place accommodate so much stuff without overcrowding it and preserving the beautiful scenery in the background.

One wonders how the designers managed to make such a little place accommodate so much stuff without overcrowding it and preserving the beautiful scenery in the background.

Situated on the way out of town as you head to the suburbs of Kimironko, Remera, Gikondo and Kacyiru, next arguably the city’s busiest petrol station, Amy’s is one Kigali’s mushrooming fast food joint.

It offers in-house ice cream, milk shakes and waffles, soft drinks including fresh juice. Not to be missed is the Frw2,500 breakfast which is ideal for commuters heading into to town for work.

There’s also a great lunch menu (beef stew, fish and other local dishes, snacks, burgers and rolls) that goes for between Frw2,500 to Frw4,000.

However since the eatery is located on the wrong side of the road, it will benefit much if the road rules in the country  change so that traffic heading out of the city centre comes to the left side of the road, the cafe will be well placed to get more clients.

If time permits, ignore the urge to take away, take a seat and enjoy the view – it’s amazing! While you idly sip your juice or eat ice cream you can appreciate the leafy residential houses and commercial blocks covering Kacyiru and Kimiruhura.
