Bugesera 1-0 GakenkeRambura 2-0 Golden Generation

After registering a hard fought 1-0 win against archrivals Kamonyi in the National Women League on Sunday, AS Kigali head coach Grace Nyinawumuntu has urged her side to build on their perfect start and maintain the winning streak that stretches over two seasons.

Team captain Annemarie Ibangarye scored the only goal of the game two minutes to full time at the Kigali Regional Stadium in Nyamirambo.

Speaking to Times Sport after the match, Nyinawumuntu admitted that her team was lucky to have the last laugh after Kamonyi dominated the match for longer periods, and attributed the win to the wealth of experience within her squad.

"I have to admit Kamonyi were the better team, which proves to me that this season might actually be tighter and difficult one for us,” said Nyinawumuntu.

She added that, "We have to maintain our consistency so as to keep our season safe, and I have told my players to use this win as a motivation in our next fixtures because, besides Kamonyi, Bugesera have also emerged as title contenders and are yet to lose any game so far.”

Bugesera continued their unbeaten run this season after defeating Gakenke 1-0 while Rambura overcame Rugende-based Golden Generation 2-0 on Saturday. Inyemera FC could be awarded forfeit points after Nyagatare failed to show up for the game.

After match day 3, Bugesera lead the table with seven points, one ahead of second-placed AS Kigali, who have played a game less, Inyemera and Rambura occupy the third and fourth positions respectively with four points each.

The women’s league is set to take a short break and will resume on April 16 after the Genocide commemoration week.
