The national women beach volley ball team has begun a two-week training camp in Rubavu District ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games qualifiers third round scheduled for April 13-18 in Abuja, Nigeria.

The provisional squad of six players is camping at Mostej Hotel on the shores of Lake Kivu while undergoing intensive preparations under the close eye of head coach Christopher Mudahinyuka, before he names the final four players (two pairs) on April 12.

"The training camp is intended to improve the players as well as help me to pick the two best pairs that will travel to Nigeria,” Mudahinyuka told Saturday Sport.

The six players in camp include Seraphine Mukantambara, Judith Hakizimana, Denyse Mutatsimpundu (Rwanda Revenue Authority), Charlotte Ndayisenga (APR), Leah Uwimbabazi (Ruhango High School) and Rwamagana’s Benita Mukandayisenga.

Rwanda, which is drawn in Pool B alongside Kenya, Sierra Leone, Morocco, Ghana and Namibia, will be seeking for top spot to qualify. Pool A is composed of hosts Nigeria, Mozambique, Mauritius, Egypt, Gambia and Burkina Faso.
