Espoir lock horns with United Generation Basketball (UGB) this evening at Amahoro indoor stadium in the national basketball league looking to record a 7th consecutive win.
The four-time reigning champions overcame IPRC-Kigali 79-71 last weekend, thanks to a combined 59 points from Olivier Shyaka (23), Patrick Buzangu (19) and 17 points from Bienvenu Ngandu.
On the other hand, UGB were the biggest winners of the weekend after upsetting former champions APR 98-95 in triple overtime.
Looking ahead to today’s game, Espoir coach Jean Bahufite said, "Our target is to keep the momentum going, we would be fools to focus more on the destination and forget the process. Friday’s game is going to be tough; UGB are a quick and energetic.”
Elsewhere today, Moise Mutokambali’s U-18 Boys Team hosts struggling Cercle Sportif de Kigali (CSK) at the same venue, starting at6pm.
Espoir sit at the helm of the table with 24 points, one point ahead of second-placed IPRC-South wile IPRC-Kigali stand in third spot with 22 points and Henry Mwinuke’s Patriots have dropped to fourth with 21 points but have played two games less.
