Uganda U-20 team head coach Kefa Kisala has named a 36-man provisional squad to face Rwanda in the 2017 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers first leg set for this Saturday at Kigali Regional Stadium.

Kisala’s Hippos will hold their last training session today at KCCA stadium in Lugogo before the coach names the final 18-man squad that will fly to Kigali later today aboard RwandAir.

"We have the last training session on Friday and thereafter the head coach and his technical team will name the final list of players traveling to Rwanda,” team manager Herbert Nsubuga, told Kawowo.com

However the team is set to be without the proven and tested forwards, Muhammed Shaban (Onduparaka) and Joseph Jjanjali (Masaka S.S), who declined the national team call for varying reasons.

"It pains missing key players but we expect them for the second leg which will be held in three weeks’ time” said Kisala, who is also a tactician at Uganda Super League side, URA FC.

Meanwhile, Rwanda which also recently named a 26-man squad by head coach Jean Baptiste Kayiranga for the tie, are currently using Kigali Regional Stadium as their training base for the game after shifting from FERWAFA turf.

Rwanda will be facing Uganda for the second time in the space of a year in youth qualifiers after they faced off last year in the Africa Under-23 Championship qualifiers with Uganda winning 4-1 on aggregate.
