We have to co-exist at any cost

RE: It’s our duty to fight Genocide ideology, says Deputy Speaker (The New Times, March 27)

It is overwhelmingly disheartening to see that in this day and age, some grown folks still need to be reminded that we don’t have to hold hands and sing kumbaya but what we DO and have to do is respect the right for other human beings to co-exist.

Regardless of how "different” we perceive ourselves to be, in comparison with those we dislike (for whatever foolish reasons humans choose to oppress and hate one another).

I would like to see governments worldwide implement policies that are unapologetically intolerant of hateful intolerance from citizens and establishments that promote or encourage hate in ALL its forms.

This is something Rwanda seems to be doing. Slowly, yes, and there’s room for improvement, but at least Rwandans can say proudly that they understand the importance of co-existing regardless of one’s own personal feelings about their fellow human!

And that’s the very definition of HUMANITY!
