President Paul Kagame on Tuesday presided over the swearing in of the new minister for gender and family promotion, Dr Diane Gashumba in a function that was held at the parliamentary building in Kimihurura.

The ceremony also saw the swearing of the new leaders with in the Rwanda Defence Forces including the chiefs of staff for land forces and air force.
Maj Gen Jacques Musemakweli was sworn in as the head of land forces, following his appointment to replace Lt Gen Frank Mushyo Kamanzi while Brig Gen Charles Karamba was sworn in as the new head of air force, a position previously held by Brig Gen Joseph Damali.
Also sworn in was Brig Gen Joseph Nzabamwita, who was last week appointed as the Secretary General for the National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS).
At the swearing in, the President said that as security threats increase across the world, they bring along with them various challenges as seen in other parts of the world, hence a need to tighten local safety and security organs to curb any incidents.
"We need to provide and safeguard the security of our country and that of the nationals, which will consequently lead to the development of our people,” Kagame said.
