France-based artiste, Miss Shanel, real name Ruth Shanel Nirere, thrilled her fans at Kigali Serena Hotel in a show that was part of activities organised by Institut Francais during the ‘Francophonie Week.’

Dubbed ‘The Shanel Concert’, the Sunday, show brought together people from all walks of life.

Shanel, together with her band, stepped on stage at exactly 8pm. Her eclectic live performance threw revelers in a frenzy as they sang along to her songs like Byahebyuje Sinyishidikanya, Inyera ya Mahoro, Nakutaka, and zouk tune, Ndarota, which she did with the help of Uganda’s saxophonist, Herbert Rock.

The singer also performed songs not known to the public yet, including Complete Me, Igisingizo, Ubufindo and Je t’aime.

The four girls Shanel trained during a one-week workshop also performed during the concert.

The show also featured Rwandan artiste Ricky Password, real name Eric Rwigema, who just returned from France where he’s been pursuing a music course.

A group of four girls, trained by Shanel during a one-week workshop on vocal techniques, also graced the show, performing Kamaliza Mutamuliza’s songs Lorete and Humura Rwanda.

The climax of the show was when all revelers abandoned their seats to dance to Shanel’s songs.

"The show was great, we did our best and people were excited. Having spent some years pursuing vocal techniques abroad, I’m able to connect with people when it comes to live performances,” the artiste said.

Francine Meyer, the director of Institut Francais, said the show was remarkable and that they expect a lot from upcoming events.
