Prince William and Prince Harry have thrown their support behind plans to set up a memorial garden for their late mother, Princess Diana, at the home where she lived.
The idea is that the commemoration of the princess will be made in Kensington Palace, where William and Harry lived with Diana.
The princes now have their London base there too – Harry has a cottage in the complex while William, Princess Kate and children Prince George and Princess Charlotte reside in Apartment 1a.
The proposal comes from Historic Royal Palaces, the charity that runs the public area of the palace, and will be one of several ways that the princess’s life will be remembered. Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of her 1997 death.
The move comes just after Harry spoke of his desire to make his mother "proud” during an in interview with Good Morning America.
"I hope she’s looking down, you know, with tears in her eyes, being incredibly proud of what we’ve established, I suppose,” he said earlier this week.
Historic Royal Palaces have also posted a job listing for a trainee gardener who, the description says, will be joining at an exciting time when we will be planting a temporary garden project to celebrate the life of Diana, Princess of Wales.
A Kensington Palace spokesman tells PEOPLE, "The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry are being kept informed of the garden project, which is in the very early stages of development.”
