APR volleyball club defeated bitter rivals Rayon Sports in the national league on Saturday at Amahoro indoor stadium to go in third position, behind INATEK and Kirehe.

APR won in straight sets 3-0 (25-16, 25-17 and 25-17) and afterwards head coach Sammy Mulinge said, "It is good always to beat your rivals but we have to continue working hard because the league has a long way to go, and we have to stay focused.”

His opposite number, Fidele Nyirimana said: "We lost many players at the end of the season so it is not a surprise that APR beat us today.”

Elsewhere, defending champions INATEK beat Kigali Volleyball Club 3-0 in Ngoma to stay on top of the table with 17 points after six games.

Marshal Kwizera’s second-placed Kirehe thrashed Umubano Blue Tigers 3-0 (25-11, 25-18 and 25-22) while IPRC-South beat Lycee de Nyanza 3-0 (25-15, 27-25 and 25-21).
