Newly elected FIFA president Gianni Infantino will visit Rwanda on his maiden African tour later this year, according to FERWAFA president Vincent Nzamwita.
Nzamwita confirmed Infantino’s planned visit after meeting with the new FIFA boss in Zurich, Switzerland last week.
Nzamwita said that Infantino was happy with the way he was hosted in Rwanda on his campaign trail during the Africa Nations’ Championship (CHAN) in February.
Nzamwita said, "Infantino promised to visit Rwanda on his tour of Africa later this year.”
"We had a lengthy meeting with the new FIFA President which tackled many issues related to football development in Rwanda. I presented our youth development plan, which is basically focused on the U15s (boys and girls),” he explained.
Last month, Infantino was elected as the president of FIFA, replacing Sepp Blatter, who had been at the helm since 1998, but has since been banned from football activities for six years over corruption.
