Former Rwanda international Meddie Kagere (pictured) has made a sensational return to Gor Mahia, three months after he parted ways with the reigning Kenyan Premier League champions.

The 29-year-old striker cut ties with Gor earlier this year after negotiations for a new contract in which he wanted a substantial pay raise, but the club refused to give in to his demands and decided to let him go.

According to media reports in Nairobi, the Uganda-born, who was recently linked with a move to APR FC, has returned to Kenya and will start training with Gor Mahia next week.

Gor Mahia released a statement on Wednesday in which the club chairman Ambrose Rachier said, "Kagere left because we could not afford him, he was asking for six million shillings which we didn’t have, we had no sponsor at the time. We have now discussed, all is in place for his return.”

The former Rayon Sports hit-man first joined Gor in January 2015 on a season contract, and played a key role in leading Kenya’s most supported football club to a record 15th league title unbeaten.

Kagere, who has played for several clubs in Rwanda such as Atraco FC, Police, Rayon Sports, Kiyovu and Mukura, has also made 30 appearances for Amavubi, scoring 10 goals in all competitions.
