Mukura Victory Sports’ winless streak on away ground continued as they traveled to Kigali Pelé Stadium to hold AS Kigali to a 1-1 draw on Sunday.
Mukura started the game trying to hold on to the ball and pinned the home side in their own half.
The ‘Black and Yellow’ side created some decent chances but their attacking trio of Mohammed Sylla, Elie Tatou Iradukunda and Zuber Hakizimana failed to find the back of the net.
AS Kigali, who were without Andre Casa Mbungo who left the club this week, came into the game from the 30th minute mark with Fiston Ishimwe and Erisa Ssekisambu in the thick of affairs.
The home side’s pair of Herve Rugirayabo and skipper Latif Bishira were very dominant as, aside their defensive duties, they occasionally popped up to deliver balls in midfield.
Both teams struggled to break the deadlock until they headed to the halftime break.
The second half started with a slow momentum as both teams decided to sit back and play on the break.
Elie Kategeya fired Mukura ahead in the 70th minute before AS Kigali drew level pegging in the 72nd minute through substitute Felix Kone Motin.
With the game at 1-1, the final 10 minutes saw both teams pushing for a late winner but neither of the two teams could score until the referee blew his final whistle.
In other games, Muhazi United came from behind to beat Etincelles 3-1 at Ngoma Stadium. It was the newcomers’ biggest win so far this season.
