National men’s cricket team captain Eric Dusingizimana is thrilled over the recovery of two senior players, Eric Hirwa and Don de Dieu Mugisha, ahead of the ICC Division Two tournament which will be held in South Africa from April 15-20.

The two Indorwa cricket club players sustained serious head injuries after a bad collision while playing against Kigali cricket club in the ongoing V.R Naidu Twenty20 tournament at Kicukiro ground three weeks ago.

There were fears that the duo, both bowlers, would not recover in time for the tournament in South Africa.

However, they have both recovered faster than earlier expected and started training with the senior team last week.

They both looked fit and healthy, Dusingizimana said.

"Eric (Hirwa) is one of the most experienced players we have in the country, he has played cricket for a long time, both at club level and national level, therefore, missing such a player would be a serious setback,” Dusingizimana said on Friday.

Rwanda, which will be in the same group as Sierra Leon and Mozambique, has been an active participant in this tournament since 2004.

In 2011, Rwanda won the division three tournament staged in Accra, Ghana.
