Rwanda Commercial Service Registration Agency (RCSRA) has urged all businesses to register. This is to facilitate government’s planning towards improving the investment climate and doing business in Rwanda.

Eraste Kabera, the RCSRA Registrar General said government considers business as pivotal for economic development and added that there is still limited information available on the nature of businesse.

He continued that that registration avails database of business activities, order in business, and also determines business strength of a nation regarding incomes received in form of taxes.

Kabera therefore explained that once data is available, government can plan effectively. According to Safari Maulidi, the RCSRA Public Relations Officer, registration also offers business owners right to compete for tenders, loans and also receive protection from business laws, which makes the business environment attractive.

He added that it is a private sector development programme that facilitates potential and existing businesses operate smoothly.

The move comes after government embarked on Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS) in efforts to realise Vision 2020 through the private sector.

Maulidi continued that RCSRA provides a comprehensive registration system that will improve company and small business registration, security of movable assets and registration of intellectual property rights.

"Registration is not limited to any commercial service provider.”

The principle role of RCSRA is to register in accordance with laws all business activities conducted in the country with aim of improving its World Bank ranking in terms of doing business position.

Since its inauguration early this year, the office has registered over 950 business both individual business and commercial associations.
