APR FC vs. Young Africans (Amahoro National Stadium 3:30)

Tanzania's Young Africans (Yanga) are expected to arrive in Kigali today this morning ahead of the CAF Champions league tie against APR on Saturday at Amahoro National Stadium in Remera.

Yanga come to Kigali in high spirits after humiliating African Sports 5-0 in a Tanzania Premier League game on Tuesday. Yanga is leading Tanzania league with 50 points.

APR will be up against their former players, including Haruna Nniyonzima and Mbuyu Twite, who ply their trade with Yanga.

Yanga and APR will set a date to meet in the CAF Champions League second round encounter after both teams made a breakthrough past the opening round. In the preliminary round Yanga beat Cercle de Joachim from Mauritius 3-0 while APR eliminated Swaziland’s Mbabane Swallows 4-2.

"APR are a big team in Rwanda, and are respected internationally. I am satisfied with the level of preparedness.

We are going to work hard against Young Africans on Saturday,” new APR head coach Nizar Khanfir said on Tuesday after overseeing his first training session.

He added that it will be tough playing against a strong Yanga but ‘we want to get results.’

Khanfir joined the military side after parting ways with Tunisian club Stade Gabesien last week following a mutual agreement. He was a member of the Tunisia coaching staff during the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal last December.

APR FC are second in the national league standings with 30 points.

The match will be officiated by Malawian referees- Duncan Lengani, Clemence Kanduku and Jonizio Luwizi.

Young Africans are one of the oldest football teams in East Africa. The club was established in 1935 and has won Tanzania Premier League 24 times, Tanzania Cup 4 times and CECAFA cup 5 times.
