Kelera Hunters cricket club stunned Challengers CC in the on-going V.R Naidu Twenty20 tournament, Pool B match played on Sunday at Kicukiro cricket ground.

Challengers won the toss and batted fast, making 111 runs in 19 overs. Siran Gopalan was their star man with 30 runs in 24 balls while the team captain, Srinath Vardhinen, added 20 runs in 13 balls.

In reply, Kelera Hunters made 112 runs in 12.3 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Sagar Kurumbaiparambil Baskaran was in outstanding for kelera hunters.

He almost single handedly put Challengers bowlers on the sword with an unbeatable 81 runs and took one wicket.  Sruthin Gopi was also great form with the ball, taking 4 wickets to guide Kelera Hunters to victory against one of the tournament favourites.

Kelera Hunters’ captain Suveesh Kottemal, who also made 7 runs, was delighted by the team’s victory.

"It is a good feeling to win, especially against great and experienced side like Challengers, we hope to maintain this great performance in the remaining two games as we fight for a place in the semi-finals,” he said.

Kelera, with two wins in two games, remains on top of Pool B with 8 points, four points ahead of Challengers, Impala CC and Titans, who all tie on 4 points in two games. Telugu Royal are on bottom without a point.

The best two teams from this group will advance to the semi-finals where they will face the top two sides from Pool A which comprises of Right Guards, Indorwa CC, Victory CC, Kigali cricket club and  Kigali Warriors CC.
