RE: "Comment on University of Kigali opens Musanze campus” (The New Times, March 7)

I would like to respond to the Governor’s comment on recommending universities and schools to offer quality education responding to the needs of the local labour market.

Here are some initiatives that have been undertaken by the Government within the Ministry of Education;MINEDUC has engaged several stakeholders in designing the Rwanda Career Planning System (RCPS) at: www.rcps.kuder.com, which is an online Career Planning System designed to remove the gap and mismatch between the labour market demand and University graduates.

A few weeks ago, the Prime Minister tweeted about hosting a National Conference

(https://twitter.com/amurekezi/... that will bring all the stakeholders on board to raise awareness in the preparation to make sure this Career Planning System is accessed by all Rwandans.

I will recommend that all universities start drafting strategies in their respective institutions that will make their students access to the RCPS a much smoother process.
