The ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry organised a one-day workshop on, Strategic Plan for Transformation of Agriculture (PSTA II) and Sector-Wide Approach (SWAP) for the Agricultural sector at Mulindi Agricultural Show grounds in Gasabo District on Tuesday.
The ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry organised a one-day workshop on, Strategic Plan for Transformation of Agriculture (PSTA II) and Sector-Wide Approach (SWAP) for the Agricultural sector at Mulindi Agricultural Show grounds in Gasabo District on Tuesday.
The objective of this workshop was to explain PSTA II and SWAp to the participants and also to discuss with different donors on the Memorandum of Understanding which is will be signed on a later date which was not disclosed.
The permanent secretary in the ministry of Agriculture and Animal husbandry, Ernest Ruzindaza explained that this was in line with the government’s Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS) where every Sector is supposed to elaborate its plans.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding Draft seen by The New times, it states that the main aim of the government of Rwanda as set out in the EDPRS and vision 2020 is the reduction of poverty for all citizens.
This will be achieved through concerted and coordinated efforts by all sectors that contribute towards achieving the goals of EDPRS.
It continues to say that for reasons of sustainability, gender mainstreaming and environmental protection are essential for agricultural development.
Ernest Ruzindaza also said that this Memorandum of Understanding was going to benefit Individual farmers because the development partners with whom the Government of Rwanda will sign the MoU are going to support them in areas such as; professionalization of farming, Agro-business among others. After discussing the MoU, a signing ceremony will be held.
