Ishimwe stars for She Guard in V.R Naidu Twenty20 win

Babyish Ishimwe inspired She Guards cricket club to victory over Queens of Victory in the on-going V.R Naidu Family Twenty20 tournament on Saturday at Kicukiro cricket ground.

She Guard won the toss and elected to bat first, making 98 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.

The 19-year old Ishimwe made 21 runs from 28 balls and was well supported by her captain Sarah Uwera, who notched 20 runs from 30 balls. Ishimwe also took three wickets and was named the best player of the match.

In reply, Queens of Victory chased and only managed to make 58 runs all out in 17 overs. Liliane Niyonsaba was their outstanding player with 8 runs from 6 balls.

"I am very delighted by the team’s performance. We worked as a team and it was teamwork that has helped us to win today,” said Uwera.

She Guards are still top of the table with 10 points in 4 games, followed by Charity cricket club with 4 points.

In the third position is White Clouds with 2 points, Fawe Girls and Queens of Victory are bottom of the table without a point.

The best two teams will qualify for the final which will be played on April 23 at Kicukiro cricket ground Elsewhere in the men’s category, Kigali Cricket club will face Indorwa on Sunday and thast game will be followed by the clash between Challengers andKelera Hunters, both games at Kicukiro cricket club.
