KARONGI — Primary six candidates who sat for this year’s Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) in Karongi district, arrived at examination centres hours before starting time on Tuesday. Equipped with their pens and pencils, the pupils looked well prepared for the exams.
A mini survey carried out by The New Times at different examination centres, showed that most pupils arrived at examination centres as early as 7 a.m. before the official starting time of 8a.m.
By 7a.m, at Birambo ‘A’ Primary School in Gashari Sector, candidates had arrived waiting for invigilators to arrange the seats and start distributing exam papers.
Police officials at the exam centres said all exams papers arrived on time because they had been delivered a day before.
A number of candidates who talked to The New Times expressed optimism that they would pass the exams.
Alice Mukamurerwa, a pupil at Birambo ‘A’ said she was well prepared and had hope of passing exams with distinction.
"We revised a lot for these exams and our teachers have been encouraging us that these exams are not any different from the ones we have been doing. They are all the same and we shall pass them,” she said.
Police sources say no cases of cheating were reported during exams and the examination atmosphere was peaceful.
