After winning his first game in charge against Gicumbi FC on Wednesday, SC Kiyovu coach Yves Rwasamanzi has tipped his side to win more league games than they lose in the second round.

The Nyamirambo-based side defeated Gicumbi 4-3 on Wednesday at Mumena stadium, thanks to a hat trick by former Rwanda international striker Andre Lomami and a goal from Mukambwa Namusobwa.

Emmanuel Ruremesha’s visiting Gicumbi FC scored their two goals through Jemba Kalume Bwanga, Eugene Habyarimana and Antoine Dominique.

The win took Kiyovu to 7th place on the table with 20 points from 14 matches while Gicumbi remains a place below with 18 points and with one game in hand.

"I expect this season to be more competitive, but our aim is to win many games than we lose in the second round.

My team is good, but we want to be better and more competitive,” Rwasamanzi said in a post match interview on Wednesday.

He noted that, "It was a must to win the game after losing the last three (against APR, Rayon Sports and Sunrise) and I’m happy to win today. We can now look forward to the next games with more optimism.”

Gicumbi coach, Ruremesha said, "We made some mistakes in defense and we got punished but we are going to organise ourselves for the next match against Espoir which we will be looking to win.”

"We are going to work hard not only for the next game, but the second round. We have not done as well as we would have loved but we just have to improve,” added the former Rayon Sports and Mukura coach.

Elsewhere, table leaders Mukura Victory Sport saw their eight-match winning streak brought to an end after he suffered a shock 1-0 defeat against Bugesera FC in a match played at Nyamata ground.

The only goal by Eric Niyigena was enough to hand Godfroid Okoko’s side a third loss of the season. Despite the loss, the Huye-based club still leads the table standings with 32 points from 15 matches.

Ali Bizimungu’s Bugesera FC moved into sixth place, tied on 21 points with Police FC, but have an inferior goal difference compared to the latter, who have played four games less.

In Rusizi, home side Espoir FC registered a third win of the season following a 2-1 win over Sunrise FC to move to 11th position with 14 points while the Rwamagana side remains in ninth spot with 18 points.
