REMERA Buffaloes are in hot soup after being drawn with the region’s top clubs in next week’s Hima-Mak 10s International Rugby tournament.

The national league champions will clash with defending champions Mwamba (Kenya), Ugandan giants UTL Kobs and minnows Nile in Pool A.

"I think Buffaloes can get a good result against Nile but they have very tough oppositions in Mwamba and Kobs,” a close source to the Rwanda Rugby Federation (RRF) said.

Last year’s finalists MTN Heathens are Pool B favorites against Rhinos, Mean Machine and Buffaloes.

Pool C pits five-time record champions Hima Impis against G4S Pirates, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) and Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono while Kenyan sides Nakuru and Impala are up against Entebbe Mongers and Impis II in Pool D.

At the end of the preliminary round, the top two teams from each of the four groups will advance to the quarter-finals of the two-day tournament that kicks off on November 8 at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala, Uganda.

Last year, Mwamba rewrote history as the first foreign team to win the tournament. Kobs won the Main Cup; G4S Pirates won the Shield Cup while Rhinos were crowned Plate winners.

This year, Shs3.5m is at stake for the overall champions. Mwamba match into the tourney on the back of an impressive display in this month’s Prinsloo Nakuru Sevens tournament. The side defended their crown after a convincing 46-13 final’s victory over Impala.
