After qualifying for the first qualification round of CAF Confederation Cup, Police FC coach Andre Cassa Mbungo has shifted his focus to the national league.
The Peace Cup champions booked their place following a 4-3 aggregate win over South Sudanese side Atlabara FC in their preliminary round tie.
Police lost the second leg match played on Sunday in Juba 2-1 but advanced courtesy of their 3-1 win in first in Kigali.
Striker Isaie Songa scored Police’s all-important away goal from the penalty spot in the 35th minute to cancel out Atlabara’s 25th lead through Sebit Ajals while Jackson Juma scored the hosts’ second goal in the 45th minute.
Andre Cassa Mbungo’s side will play away to Vita Club Mokanda of Congo Brazzaville for the first leg match on the weekend of Match 11-12 with the second leg to be played a fortnight later in Kigali.
Vita Club Mokanda knocked out Nigeria’s Akwa United 6-5 on penalties after a 2-2 aggregate score over the two legs.
"We are returning home to prepare for the league matches against Musanze and Marines, games that we want to ahead of the Vita Club Mokanda match,” Mbungo said after the Atlabara match on Sunday.
He added, "It was very tough game against Atlabara because they scored goals from our mistakes but we are going to work on our defending and be ready for the next matches.”
Police FC, who are fifth in the league with 21 points from eleven matches, next faces Musanze FC on Friday at Kigali Regional Stadium and travel to Rubavu to take on Marines three days later at Umuganda Stadium.
