Accident leads to temporary traffic jam on Airport Road

On Monday evening at around 4:30Pm, a RAV 4 Toyota (RAC 022 V), crashed into an electric pole before smashing into a Land Cruiser Prado (RAB 902 A) that was moving on the opposite lane. Both vehicles were seriously damaged after the collusion and the two drivers were only saved by airbags, according to eyewitnesses.

On Monday evening at around 4:30Pm, a RAV 4 Toyota (RAC 022 V), crashed into an electric pole before smashing into a Land Cruiser Prado (RAB 902 A) that was moving on the opposite lane.

Both vehicles were seriously damaged after the collusion and the two drivers were only saved by airbags, according to eyewitnesses.

This  Land Cruiser Prado was seriously damaged.

None of the two sustained any injury.

The accident which took place along the Airport Road, between Kimihurura roundabout towards the Ministry of Defence headquarters, led to a temporary traffic jam before traffic police cleared it.

The accident caused a temporary traffic jam along Airport Road.

According the eyewitnesses, the accident was caused by the driver of the RAV 4, who was said to have been over-speeding when he crossed into the opposite lane, smashing into the Prado.

"It happened right before me, I think the driver kind of lost control because the car was speeding and the lady who was driving the Land Cruiser might have been caught unaware because she was on the opposite lane,” said Viateur Uwamuregeya, an eye witness.

Several cars were caught up in the accident.
