Former champions Rayon Sports and archrivals SC Kiyovu will face off in what pundits say is one of biggest matches in the National Football League this evening at Kigali Regional Stadium. Kick off time is 6:00pm.

Hosts, SC Kiyovu go into today’s match with a big task at hand. The Mumena-based club must not settle for less than a win in today’s clash to revive their hopes in the run for the league title.

Rayon Sports will go into the game with 22 points after five wins and six draws in eleven games while rivals SC Kiyovu is in sixth position after four wins, five draws and two losses in twelve games.

SC Kiyovu has won three league titles since its establishment in 1964 while Rayon Sports has won the title seven times since it was formed in 1968.

This is 45th time both sides are going to meet over the past 21 years, in the 41 times they have played in league, Rayon Sport has won 22 while SC Kiyovu won 5, and they have drawn 14 times.

"This is a big and an important match for Rayon Sports and the fans, and we have prepared for it in the best way possible. Our purpose will be to win the game. We want to win the game to stay in race of the title contenders,” Ivan Jacky Minnaert said after Monday’s training.

"We want to win the game in order to stay near the leaders. We will do all we can to win the game against SC Kiyovu,” he added.

SC Kiyovu lost against defending champions APR 2-0 on Saturday but Rwasamanzi wants to forget the loss and win the game against Rayon Sports.

"We have to forget what happened, that’s the past. We need to work hard for the game against Rayon sports because we want to earn all points. It will be difficult against them but we need to make sure that we snatch the points,” the former Isonga coach said.

In other matches table leaders, AS Kigali will host Mukura at Kigali Regional Stadium at 3:00pm, while Rwamagana will meet Amagaju in Rwamagana.
