A countrywide talent search in arts and entertainment is set to begin today at 11am at Youth Hall in Kayonza, Eastern Province.

The event is organised by TV 1.

According to Charles Kakoza Nkuriza, the managing director of TV 1, the talent search dubbed "Stand Up and Shine,” is geared towards discovering and nurturing talents in music, comedy, painting, and drama among others.

Nkuriza said they came up with the talent search idea because they believe every person has a hidden talent that only needs to be discovered, and nurtured.

"Your talent is your treasure and the earlier you discover it, the more you’re going to harness it to have a bright future for yourself,” said Nkuriza.

Eventual winners will benefit from lucrative deals sponsored by TV 1 including further training in their respective fields, cash prizes, recording, and training in various art galleries in Kigali, among others.

"Five winners from each district in disciplines of art and entertainment are going to come to Kigali where they will be enrolled in academies before the grand finale to choose the eventual winner,” said Nkuriza.
