Defending champions APR FC will go into the national league match against Espoir on Tuesday at Kigali Regional Stadium, looking for a resounding win, according to head coach Emmanuel Rubona.

"The mistake we can’t afford to make is to think we are so big against Espoir, so we have to be well prepared and ready for the game in-front of our fans,” Rubona said on Monday.

He added, "All matches are not easy so we will have to be very careful against Espoir. Our ambition is to win the game. We are the favorites but we have to go on field and show our capacity and we are motivated to win.”

The army side returns to action three days after defeating rivals SC Kiyovu 2-0, courtesy of goals by youngsters Fiston Nkezingabo and Janvier Benedata in the 82nd and 84th minutes respectively at Kigali Regional Stadium.

Espoir head coach Alphonse Gatera says his team will go into Tuesday’s game hopeful of causing an upset jump from the danger zone. The Rusizi-based side is in 14th place with 10 points from 10 league matches.

"We will do all we can to win the game because it is an important game for us, we know APR are a good and strong side. It will be hard to beat them, but we are coming to Kigali for a win,” he noted.

After a win over SC Kiyovu, the army side is in fifth position with 21 points, same as Police but Andre Cassa Mbungo’s side has a superior goal difference (+11) against APR (+7).
