The national volleyball league, 2016 season, gets underway this weekend, with INATEK (men) and Rwanda Revenue Authority (women) seeking to retain their titles.
Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education of Kibungo (INATEK) will start their title defense against newcomers, IPRC-South on Saturday in Ngoma District.
INATEK head coach Dominique Ntawangundi Sesonga says his team is on a mission to register a clean sheet against their debutant opponents, and says his desire is to win a second consecutive title.
Ntawangundi believes his experienced team can retain the title. "We are prepared and everything looks better at this stage, than it was last season. We want to win many games which will give us the points to retain the title,” he said on Friday.
Elsewhere, Umubano Blue Tigers will face former defending champion APR, Rayon Sports will host Kirehe, while another former champions, Kigali Volleyball Club, will be up against high school side, Lycee de Nyanza (LDN).
Meanwhile, in women’s league, champions, Rwanda Revenue Authority will start their title defence against Lycee de Nyanza, APR face IPRC-Kigali, another new side in the league, while Ruhango will meet St Joseph.
