AS Kigali maintained its top spot in the national league after drawing against Bugesera FC 1-1 at Nyamata stadium, yesterday.

Michel Nduwimana put Bugesera ahead with a goal in the tenth minute but Bugesera could not hold on to the lead as AS Kigali equalised 7 minutes later through forward Amini Muzerwa.

Meanwhile, in another league game played yesterday, struggling AS Muhanga held Rayon Sports to a goalless draw at Kigali Regional Stadium, in Nyamirambo.

Midfielder Djabel Manishimwe and striker Ismaila Diarra had chances to score for ‘Blues’ but failed to find the back of the net.

Rayon Sports dominated the Muhanga-based team in first half, but Kevin Muhure, Savio Dominique Nshuti and Ismaila Diarra failed to beat Muhanga’s stopper Freddy Ilunga Mukadi.

Belgian Ivan Jacky Minnaert’s side started the second half with a spirited hunt for a goal, but Muhanga defenders kept them at bay.

Ivan Jacky Minnaert brought on Mustapha Nsengimana for Kevin Muhire who suffered an injury, but Nsengimana was soon replaced by Olave Gahonzire after failing to make an impact in the game.

Gahonzire and Ismaila Diarra continued to put pressure on Eduard Rutayisire but failed to convert the two chances they got.

Muhanga also got chances through Omar Hitimana and America Kalisa but failed to go past stopper Eric ‘Bakame’ Ndayishimiye.

Elsewhere, Sunrise drew 1-1 against Gicumbi FC while the Rubavu derby Marines beat Etincelles 1-0, thanks to a lone goal by former Spanish Academy-Aspire and Sec Academy player Blaise Itangishaka.

Action will continue today as Rwamagana City play against SC Kiyovu while Police FC host Espoir at Kicukiro Stadium.
