The national handball heroes’ tournament is set for this weekend at Kigoma grounds, Ruhango district.
The volleyball federation Secretary general Jean Paul Ngarambe has said.
Speaking to Times Sport, Ngarambe revealed that league side Ecole Secondaire Kigoma will host this year’s two day tournament.
"Everything is in place and by Thursday this week we shall announce teams which have confirmed participation in both categories; men and women,” said Ngarambe
Police are the defending champions after defeating St. Alloys Rwamagana 34-23 in the men’s finals last year while Apega Gahindiro defeated ES Mukingi 13-12 to lift the women’s title.
The tournament was scheduled to take place last month but later was postponed due to the 2016 Orange Africa Nations Championship which concluded two weeks ago in Kigali.
Meanwhile the 2015 league season will feature a total of 12 clubs up from 10 clubs last season.
The new entrants include University of Rwanda, Nyarugege campus and Kibogora Polytechnic from Nyamasheke district.
This year’s fixtures are scheduled in a way that schools and universities competing will not miss any of their games which coincide with holidays. The national league is set to kick off on March 5.
