It’s yet another super weekend for the local basketball fans as two title hopefuls IPRC-Kigali entertain their Southern Province counterparts (IPRC-South) today at UR- CST (former KIST) courts.
Table leaders, IPRC-South will be seeking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season while IPRC-Kigali are in fourth place after winning five and losing two games this season, and will be looking for record fourth successive win.
"This is a very important game for us, we have been particularly training for this game for the last two weeks, morale in the team is excellent and players are all in great form.
They (IPRC-South) have proved to be a strong side, especially this season but we have what it takes to get a win,” said IPRC-South coach, Albert Buhake.
His opposite number, Didier Bineza, while speaking to Saturday Sport, cautioned his players to be at their best to overcome IPRC-Kigali.
"Our games against IPRC- Kigali are always tough, and so I expect Saturday’s game to be no exception, nonetheless, we are well prepared, for us, this game is a do-or-die,” Bineza said on Friday.
Elsewhere today, Moise Mutokambali’s U18 Boys National Team will be up against reigning champions Espoir in the first game of the day at the same venue, starting at 10am.
Jean Bahufite’s four-time league and playoffs reigning champions, Espoir will go into the game seeking to recover from last weekend’s 55-64 loss to Patriots, who themselves will be in action on Sunday against bottom side, Rusizi.
Going into the 8th round of league games, IPRC-South lead the standings with 15 points, Espoir and Patriots stand second and third with 14 points apiece while IPRC-Kigali are fourth with 12 points.
