Editor,
RE: "We can’t kick out helpless Burundians: Mushikiwabo” (The New Times, February 10).
For those of us who lived that life of running away from despotic regimes know what it means and takes to make a decision to be refugees in those thousands, to run away from your country when leaders turn against the very people they lead.
No—our value system cannot allow us to kick them out.
As for some in UN, who always put out fabricated reports, those are enemy agents who only shrive on other people’s tragedies and miseries or have some disruptive motives intended to tarnish our good image and relations.
If only they can articulate the Rwandan legitimate interest in destabilizing a neighbour when we are in fact advocates of greater regional integration for our common socio-economic development.
This is on record; our leader uses every opportunity to do this loudly and clearly. May be this is the sin we are committing. But we shall not apologize because it is the right thing to do.
