Winger Innocent Habyarimana has been appointed as the new Rwanda National Police Football Club skipper replacing Jacques Tuyisenge, who joined Kenya’s Gor Mahia. Habyarimana will be deputized by Fabrice Twagizimana commonly known as Ndikukazi.

Meanwhile, Police head coach, Andre Cassa Mbugo said that all players joined the camp and have been undergoing intensive training ahead of this Saturday’s encounter with Athalabal FC of South Sudan in their first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup at Kigali Regional Stadium in Nyamirambo.

All the seven players who were on the national duty for the just concluded African Nations Championship (CHAN), Cassa said, are also back into the camp.

The players are Mwemere Girinshuti (defender), midfielders Rashid Kalisa, Hegman Ngomirakiza and Imran Nshimiyimana, Habyarimana and striker Dany Usengimana.

The 26-year-old joined the law enforcers in 2012 from AS Kigali where he had been for two years after signing from former league side Electrogaz FC.

"He has been the vice-captain to Tuyisenge and he possesses leadership qualities and abilities to hold the armband, and besides as a club, we have an order we follow on who to take the captain’s arm-band in case the main captain is absent,” said Cassa Mbungo.

Tuyisenge signed a two-year contract with record 15-times Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia in a reported US$ 40,000 (about Rwf30 million) transfer deal.
