Rwanda international Aimable Mutuyimana has rejoined APR volleyball club on a one-year contract after spending last season at INATEK where he helped the club win their maiden league title. Mutuyimana’s signing was confirmed by APR head coach Sammy Mutebi Mulinge.
The 24-year-old outside attacker, who had joined Ngoma-based Institute of Agriculture and Technology of Kibungo (INATEK) volleyball club in January 2015, rejoins the military side two weeks before the 2016 season kicks off.
APR’s Kenyan trainer, Mulinge, said that Mutuyimana’s ability and leadership skills on court are undisputable, and will certainly be an integral part of the club in the upcoming campaign.
"He is one of the best players in the country, and it’s a pleasure to have him back. He signed a one year contract, which is open to renewal at the end of the season in case both parties still need each,” Mulinge said.
Former Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) attacker, Mutuyimana, joins APR for a second spell, having previously played for the side from 2012 to 2014, leading the club to two league titles in 2012 and 2014.
He also captained the U21 national team to finish third at the Africa U21 Championship in 2013 in Tunisia to qualify for U21 World Championship staged the same year in Turkey where Rwanda finished bottom of the 20-team table.
Last season, APR finished the season without a single trophy for the first time since 2006, and will be aiming to erase that disappointment in the coming season.
