Twenty six MTN distributors both from upcountry and within Kigali were last Thursday, at MTN Centre in Nyarutarama awarded brand new motor cycles by MTN Rwandacell management.
Speaking at the ceremony, the MTN Chief Executive Officer, Themba Khumalo, expressed gratitude to the distributors who he says have worked faithfully with MTN for the last ten years.
"This initiative is a very important step at enabling the distributors and economically empowering our front line business partners, making it a win-win situation for both parties,” Khumalo said.
Valued at Rwf 20 million, the 26 motor cycles were branded in MTN colours and logo complete with safety helmets.
"One can proudly say that MTN has made a difference over the last ten years of operations in Rwanda and this moment recognises those that have been loyal and dedicated to the company,” Khumalo pointed out.
Alice Kayigamba, one of the beneficiaries and the representative of all MTN distributors and franchisees said that the move will make it possible for them to distribute airtime effectively.
"These motor cycles are going to be a tool which will enable us to reach even the remotest areas like Butare where transport is a problem,” Kayigamba said.
MTN Rwandacell currently has 17 distributors based in Kigali and 9 franchisees found in major upcountry towns who work with over 20,000 dealers country wide.
