KIGALI – Zambia Football federation President Kalusha Bwalya, who is also a CAF Executive Committee member, has hailed Rwanda’s preparations for the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) describing it as brilliant.

Bwalya, who has been in the country since the start of the tournament, alluded to the fact that Rwanda had redefined the tournament standards and applauded the Local organizing committee led by FERWAFA president Vincent Nzamwita as having done an extraordinary job.

He also praised the performance of Rwanda national team, Amavubi.

"The organization of CHAN 2016 has been top notch after getting assurances from the FERWAFA president Vincent Nzamwita and I am glad to note that everything from security and transport to hotels were well organized and it indeed added value to the competition.

"The great performance by Rwanda was the icing on the cake. To be sincere, Rwanda has elevated CHAN to the same level as AFCON and it has been a wonderful experience each day of the competition,” Kalusha exclusively told supersport.com.

Still on the level of competition, now in the 4th edition, Bwalya did not mince his words. "The competition has become massive and has grown substantially from when we started the competition in 2009. Then some people were skeptical, as we can see CHAN has blossomed in the right direction as teams have come with their best players to the tournament adding even more bite.

"The level of competition is growing with each edition and with many players being promoted to the senior national teams and some moving abroad. Even the number of scouts and clubs seeking their services has also improved drastically,” Kalusha said.
