Former Police FC forward Jacques Tuyisenge was on Tuesday evening officially unveiled at his new club, Gor Mahia FC, of Kenya.

The event took place at the club’s offices at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

The 24-year-old striker left the country on Monday evening for Nairobi after the national team, Amavubi, was knocked out of the ongoing Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) having lost to DR Congo 2-1 in the quarterfinals last Saturday.

Tuyisenge, who captained a largely youthful Amavubi side that played in the CHAN tournament, signed a two-year contract with the 15-time record winners of Kenya Premier League.

Upon his unveiling, Tuyisenge was given jersey number 9, the same number that he has been wearing both at his former club Police FC and which he wears when in Amavubi.

He is expected to replace former club and country teammate Meddie Kagere who parted company with the club last season.

The former Kiyovu Sports and Etincelles FC striker moves to Gor Mahia for a record US$ 40,000 transfer fee (about Rwf30 million), making him the most expensive player ever involving a Rwandan side.

The deal was sealed last month just ahead of the CHAN tournament.

The Kenya Premier league is set to kick off on February 17, and the champions face Chemelil Sugar FC in their first game of the season.
