Zambia’s Christopher Katongo is seeking to win this year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) taking place in Rwanda. Zambia will face Guinea in the quarter-finals at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu.
The Chipolopolo finished top of Group D with seven points after wins over Zimbabwe 1-0, Uganda 2-0, and a goalless draw against Mali in final group match played on Wednesdayat Kigali Regional Stadium.
Uganda (2 points) and Zimbabwe (1 point) were eliminated after they finished third and fourth respectively.
On the other hand, Guinea stunned Nigeria 1-0 in the final group C match to take second place, behind 2011 winners, Tunisia.
"It will be a wonderful career for me if I win this title to add to the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012. We’re all looking forward to doing our best to see that we win that game on Sunday. It’s about taking it game by game and we know we are capable of doing that,” the 33-year-old said after Wednesday’s game.
He added, "Our main focus is to win every game. This is a knockout stage, so we have to be careful and we have no choice here, we have to win every game to reach our target.”
The other quarter-final clash on Sunday between Tunisia and Mali will be played at Kigali Regional Stadium.
