Editor,

RE: "Two held over impersonation” (The New Times, January 27).

There is a bigger problem here: people are becoming used to police (impersonators) going all around asking for bribes. It’s amazing that fraudsters can rob four shops and no one reports the incidents to the Police.

There are two things to observe here. One, residents of Rwamagana are used to being asked for bribes by the "police”, and two, people in Rwamagana are obviously selling illicit drugs.

This is tragic. We are supposed to be better than this. Police should not simply take credit for the arrest; they should also let us know how these problems will be addressed.
