Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh has said he is proud of his team despite crashing out of CHAN 2016 in the first round.

The Super eagles lost 1-0 to Guinea in the final Group C game at Umuganda stadium in Rubavu on Tuesday when they needed at least a draw to go through to the quarter-finals.

After losing to Guinea, Oliseh said, "It’s a big disappointment, but I’m proud of my boys even though we did not go through. They gave their best. We came out to win, but we did not,” he added.

Oliseh also decried the poor facilitation of the technical crew managing the Nigeria national team. Nigeria started well, winning the opening game against Niger 4-1, and drawing with Tunisia 2-2 before losing the final game against Guinea. Tunisia and Guinea advanced to the last eight.

Meanwhile, tournament debutants Guinea’s coach Kanfory Lappé Bangoura is pleased after getting his side through to the quarter-finals.

"I’m satisfied with the performance of the team. This is our first time at the tournament and we are in the quarter-finals,” Bangoura said in press conference before adding that "We had a plan tactically and technically although there are some mistakes that we will have to work on ahead of the next game.”

Guinea drew the first two games against Tunisia (2-2) and Niger (2-2) before beating Nigeria 1-0.
